A spring city break needs flexibility: cool mornings, warmer afternoons, possible rain, and enough polish for cafes or dinner. The answer is not more clothes. It is a small capsule that layers well.

The clothing capsule

  • 2 lightweight tops
  • 1 button-down shirt or soft blouse
  • 1 knit or cardigan
  • 1 light jacket or trench
  • 1 comfortable trouser
  • 1 skirt or second trouser
  • 1 sleep set
  • Underwear and socks for each day, plus one spare

Choose a simple palette: ivory, charcoal, denim, sage, navy, or soft brown. A limited palette makes every piece easier to repeat.

Shoes

Bring one pair of already-tested walking shoes. If you need a second pair, choose something flat and compact. New shoes are not a travel personality trait; they are a blister risk.

Toiletries and comfort

  • Clear toiletry pouch
  • Mini skincare and sunscreen
  • Lip balm and hand cream
  • Medication and plasters
  • Small laundry soap sheets

The goal is not to recreate your bathroom. Bring the products that keep your skin and body calm.

Small tech kit

Pack a charger, cable, power bank, plug adapter, and wired backup earbuds. Keep them in one pouch so airport and hotel transitions feel less scattered.
